The Legacy!

This is my fatehers house in Maryland. He was the original president of Dynamic Rockers and was named Glyde. Hence my name Kid Glyde baby! What does he do for a living? Entertains people at their private affairs. So this is just one example of a B-boy who is becoming a successful entrepenuer in todays world. So this is just a little inspiration for bboys. So this is what we may look foward to in the future or even better.

I hope you guys don't think I'm trying to show off and gloat on this site. I'm just showing you one of my inspirations cuase as a bboy when breaking died out he survived. It wasn't easy for cats back then. Some turned to dealing, dealing or whatever. My pops went through the roughest time for BBoys in Ny and mainted. So I'm proud of him and what he has and will accomplish. This was is a bboy who lived it and went through. Trust me he still loves to battle. Don't sleep. So this is my tribute to him. And I'm going to keep his legacy alive until the day I die. Dynamic Rockers forever kid! BELIEVE THAT!!!!!!

One more win for NYC!

Yo what up?! This weekend I went out to Seattle and once again repped for the Empire State! That's right I brought back a Footwork victory. I'm trying to get a hold of footage but I didn't bring a camera with me so I'm assed out. Me and Kaotic Blaze also got second place for the Bonnie and Clyde. Basically we were the first losers, haha. I hate losing in the finals kid! Hate it! Matter of fact, I hate losing period.

I just started counting my wins and loses since the end of December of 08. I saw that Alien Ness keeps his record so I thought it was a good idea. So I want to make sure I got a good record so I train. Right now I'm at 27 wins and 2 loses. I know if I went back to all the battles I ever did both numbers would be way bigger. But for me to try and remember all of that man, it will be maaaaaaaaaad hard. My memory is not all that. So back to Seattle

So yea the whole Zulu weekend was dope. I got a bigger respect for Zulu after seeing what the 206 Zulu organization was about. I mean the whole weekend was free except for the jump off party which was like $5. That's it. Yo I highly recommend bboys going to this jam next year and the year after that. It was dope. I actually got my ticket for $225. Yup! I don't know if it's the recession or the weather, shit all I know is that I've been getting all my tickets for reaaaal cheap. Even to Toronto. So I happen to go to Seattle the only time this winter that it didn't rain so I lucked out big time. City is beautiful, got to see Bruce Lee's grave, tried their famous coffee, checked out their Pike street Market(their fish market), and other random thing in their downtown section. The locals were cool and the buses are FREE! In the downtown area all the buses are Free.

I checked out the Saturday portion of the 5th Anniversary of 206 Zulu. i guess 206 is the Seattle area code. They had a lot of panels discussing certain issues arising in their community. So that was educational to watch. To see at hip hop event activists pushing to inspire their youth. And they had free workshops for kids doing graff, writing quick lil rhymes and what not. But the bboy workshop had a choice of 4 different bboys. You had to pay but look at the line up. Either learn some history from Trac 2(old school pioneer down with one of the first crews ever, Star Child La Rock), who definitely knows his stuff. Believe that! Poe One (Style Elements who still gets it in), Alien Ness(MZK President). or Remind(Style Elements) who was one of my earliest inspirations. So yea the weekend already was crazy before the main event on Sunday. 3 on 3 for $3000, Footwork for $500, and Bonnie and Clyde for $500. This was the Mighty 4 portion of the weekend. But check this out. This whole weekend was in this area called the Seattle Center where the Space Needle is located. It's the equivalent to our Lincoln Center but with more activities, a bigger food court, and a mini amusement park. It was an official place. Straight up. But the venue for the jam was siiiiiick! yo it was crazy. The wall behind the bboys battling on stage was a projection of what was going on onstage. Crazy!

So yea I get to the venue and see dumb long line around the corner and down the block. Was I going to wait on it? Hell NO! So luckily I saw a shorter line and figured it was for the bboys performing. Lucky me! I was right. So I didn't have to cut somebody or see a friend of mine who did wait and jump on with him. So that was good. Now I had to check my bag so flashbacks of United Styles came back to haunt me. NO! not $4  again. Hey, it was free. IIIIIIght. Seattle is the shit! So I warm up and see my ol' buddie Dial Tone picking on somebody soooooo I jumped in and ended up battling homie. Me and him always go at it. It began at Frenemies 2 Rocksteadys ago. So we would always battle on the side or in the competition and I will always put it on him. Hold up, kid is sick with it, but I always get the best of him. He'll let you know. So once again Kid Glyde put it on that ass! haha. Yo at first Dial Tone was going to work and making work hard but then it turned around. Anyways..... I warmed up and got ready and the footwork battles were after the 3 on 3's.

If we would have had a New York City representing at this jam. I think we would have won. Hands down. Massive Monkees are dope but the finals was close. They were messing up a lil but still beat Battle Born, who to me was messing up a lot more.  Yea even if my crew was there. We would have won that! Gravity, Whorah, and Me. It would be over! I'm telling you New York! It ain't that hard. Get up and get out there! Supreme coulda have won that with their main hit squad easy. C'mon. Jiggz, Ken Fury, and Frankie. Their beasts! So imagine 3 of New Yorks best. Pick anyone you want. I'm sure it would be the same thing.

Unfortunately there wasn't that much comp in the footwork that I was expecting. Except for Smerk and Shadow. Shadow is a new member in Rocksteady and slept on me. So when he went out first he had 2 strikes on him already. One he's Rocksteady, and two his go down mad me feel like he was sleeping on me sooooooo I toasted his ass. Went in for the kill homie! Now Smerk is a different story. He's a veteran in the game and has Style for days. You can tell he didn't train for this but he also fell for my traps. I battled him before and I tell you this it ain't easy. Plus he's from New York and he's down with Rocksteady too. So you know Trac 2 had to point that out. So it was Dynamic Rockers vs. Rocksteady in the finals of the footwork and Bonnie and Clyde. So we won the footwork and they won the Bonnie and Clyde. It's all good.

So NYC next time I'm going on a plane trip to wherever I will holla at you guys and let you know how cheap my ticket is. Stay tuned! Once I get my USB wire for the camera I will have pics up about the trip! IIIIIIIIIIGHT!!!!!

Head Hunting

Yo what up NYC and Tri-State area! Yo I've had this crazy idea for a minute! You know how when out of state cats come through and us New York heads just go after them. Well I hate that cuase we keep making cats look good when it's like 10 against one. Son I would be flattered if I had a city full of bboys trying to smoke me. Especially when they swear their smoking me. For instance way back when Teknyc battled everybody in the House Dance Conference, who you think everybody that wasn't there heard about. Teknyc!!!! I know he felt like the man, he even told me he felt like he was. I wasn't there, but when I asked who battled Teknyc? The answer was always EVERYBODY! Ok like who? EVERYBODY! Do you guys want to be classified as Everybody or would you rather be representing yourself and your crew. Which already is representing NYC as a whole. Right? That's why I love my crew. When 5 crew was coming up they would always battle the new cats in town regardless if they were nasty or not. Every week kid, every week at 17th street they would bring it. But after a while they would do the same go downs every week and kinda play themselves out. So I told them about it and they changed it up.
Do you guys remember when Drifterz came into town and one crew called them out or actually a mix of a few crews and then EVERYBODY jumped in. HAHAHAHA. Man we got to stop making out of towners look good. Straight up! I know how you feel. They walk in our city, THE MECCA, and act like celebrities. I hate that too but lets get our city organized. Let's show them our quality instead of quantities. Show them who we got and what we have to offer. So check it out. We call it Head Hunting Season! Or whatever. You got a better name then let's think of one in the forums. No matter what it will always be Head Hunting Season, cuase bboys always travel to the Empire State. Maybe not a lot in the winter but A lot during the summer, especially when Freestyle Session comes into town. Believe that.
So this is my proposal and idea. Every month we have a main crew that will get First dibs on out of state or country crew. It's their job to find that crew if their just chilling out here on vacation or doing shows, whatever and smoke them! If its a jam then there might be more than one foriegn crew in our city, so we have a list of crews that got dibs. Maybe top 4 or whatever. But it can't just be any crew on that list. You got to be a well established and motivated crew. Our city needs the best representation possible. Now I know that a lot of bboys may complain that the main crews are always the same. For instance Dynamic, Breaks, Supreme or X Fenz. Well you can't get mad about the hard work we put in. You can tell that this is our lives basically. But I still want to push other crews in NYC to represent as well. So it won't always be us representing. We got other crews that are nasty that can smoke out of town bboys without a sweat. We got the Heights, Brooklyn Zoo, 2 Steps Ahead, Foot Clan, Floor Obsessions, Mad hitting crews, Full FX, Ready to Rock, New Breed, 5 Crew Dynasty, Teen Titanz, and whole bunch of other crews. Sorry if I didn't mention you if I didn't. I'm just trying to get this message out. I'm going to start a Forum page called Head Hunting Season to get feedback from the bboys in the city. So if you got ideas and if your down for representing hit it up. Let's ALL get to work!
So basically whenever an out of state crew comes through, we will always have a main crew that month putting it down and also crews that have second and third dibs on other crews invading our scene. So instead of a frenzy of a welcome we will have a proper welcome to NYC! Ask some of the few cats I battled in NYC! I always told them at the end of the battle, WELCOME TO NEW YORK CITY! And sometimes I would add the mother fucker at the end depending on who it was. HAHAHA! Nah but we got to stop talking so much in battles too!
It's annoying! I used to think it was cool until I saw other people do it. Takes away from the dance. B-boys don't want to see other bboys argue. They want to see somebody get burnt or actually get down. Especially with the djs we got in our city. They be throwing some straight fire! AAAAAAAhhhh! So shut the fuck up and smoke that fool! FOOL!
Oh yea! Also for the Head Hunting thing we should also do it as far as solo bboys are concerned. So we'll have the BBoy of the month as well. And he'll get in free to all the jams and be the man of the month. Whateva is cleva. But we'll leave this for the new generation. So my bad if I was rambling but I just had to get this out! If your down, then let me know on the forums or my email. kidglyde@gmail.com. NEW YORK, NEW YORK!
