The Life of A NYC BBoy in the summer of 09'

Yea I'm on my way to Phoenix as we speak. Going out there to see my lil homie Neo. Yea I got a 13 year old down with my crew out there in Phoenix. He's one of the reasons why I love this dance. The youth and our future. They keep this art going but must be educated. But yea i'm just writing this blog right here to explain why I have been out of the loop.

Yea.... So.... This summer for me was ..... I don't even know how to describe it briefly but it was a lot of work. Yea please believe it. I'm all jammed out and basically mentally beaten. I mean it started after july 4the where I chilled with my girl Kim and my pops out in Maryland. We chilled on the battle field of Antietem. A major conflict in the civil war. After that weekend it was on. Mind you, me and the crew started before that cause that's how we get ready for battles. So here's the summer run down. First went out to Toronto, Canada for battle of the Sexes and battled Lynx (Smoked her ass). It was a battle where they paired up a boy against a girl, simple. Got back and filmed Stet Up 3 with the crew( Whorah, Gravity, and lil Man). During that time was Street Kings Boro battle, then the infamous Sneaker Box jam. Supreme stopped our winning streak but resumed the week after with Rocksteady Anniversary and chicken beer. Went to United Styles and had a heated battle with Killafornia, but lost to Funky Masons after being gassed up. It happens that's why you stay humble. But always have that bboys swagger. Then the Octagon, problems Kru anniversary a week after and then Freestyle Session. Mind you we are training in between all of these events. No time to party or chill really. Discipline baby! Haha. But it doesn't end. I go to St. Louis to judge which is somewhat of a relief since I just have to sit and watch. Now let me tell you one thing about judging, IT AIN'T EASY! No sir it isn't. I rather battle than judge. Next week was IBE and to come back to leave for Seattle to do the takeover. Then I went straight to Orlando to meet Kim's parents. Learned how to surf(maaaaaaaad fun) and did some inner tubing with her fam. Had a great time for about 3 and a half days. Ooooh I also learned how to make Pho! Ohhh yea thanks Loan( I hope I didn't spell it wrong, my girl's mom name). Yea Pho is Vietnamese Noodle Soup and is my favorite. Mmmm mmmmmm mmmmm. Whew back to NYC just to go to DC and catch a ride with Beat Wacks to North Carolina where I judge the Swoon Unit's 10 year anniversary. Now I'm finally home and relaxed a lil but couldn't. Why you ask?! Cause I got to train for Red Bull BC One bitches!. Yup that's right I will be representing NYC and it is an honor that me out of all of NYC's bboys. So if you see me, put it on me. Smoke me. Cause I need it.

I will be training and I won't let NYC down. I promise. This is what I love and this is who I am. Yea stop making fun of me from that commercial. My boys haven't let me slide at all with that one. And I just found out my girl is Pregnant. Well we finally decided this week we're going to go through with it. But now I look into my life and see if I can take care of my child when it's born. Especially if this is the life I will be living. Traveling like crazy. I don't want to be away from the baby and my girl. So right now its a lot going on. Plus doing the NBL out here and also putting together the Massacre within a month and a half. What am I doing to myself. Its too much but I believe I can do. I'll find a way. Let's go NYC. What should I do? Well I got to go back to training. So I'll let you know how that goes. Stay tuned!

I.B.E. experience

Oh man oh man, what a great time I had. I highly recommend everyone to start saving money now! Everyone should experience this crazy B Boy festival. Talk about a little town hosting one of the biggest events for bboys. So imagine a smaller version of your neighborhood with about 7 or 8 venues within walking distance of each other, all hosting some kind of an event all at the same time. Yup that's crazy. Its like a mini bboy city. Well it's not just all dudes there are many fly b girls or women spectating as well. And let me not forget to mention legalized weed. What! Yea lil coffee shops selling your favorite flavors of bud. They got bongs for you to sit and enjoy or they can even roll it for you. Whatever you like. But you have to buy your munchies first. Hahahahaha. Its crazy!

Back to the breaking. So yea I go on a flight and sit next to no other than the prince ken swift himself and 2 other 7 gems, Nako Avatar and Clarky. 2 other inspirational rockers in the game. The correct term for what you may call Up rock. My flight was mad smooth as I watched about 3 movies. I'm already enjoying myself. Oh yea Alien Ness and his wife was on the same flight as well. Those two are a trip. They definitely are happy together. Lol. So I arrive to the infamous city of Amsterdam just to leave and go to the small town where the event was being held. 2 and a half hours away. Damn man I just flew 8 hours. But the time goes by cause I'm chilling with my peoples. And Candy was already there so she joined us for the ride. We finally get there and out of everyone my room wasn't ready. Ah damn! Another 2 hour wait until I sleep. Hahahahaha. Oh well. Finally Toyz arrives and he's rooming with me and so is Bebe who arrives later. So the rest of the day was fun as I walked around the small town checked out a few of the pre parties. That's right like 3 things were happening the first day. Martha Cooper had a dope exhibition of subway art. Showing the beginnings of our art as well.

Second day went by like a blur. So many events happening all at the same time. Workshops, battles, exhibitions, panel discusions, concert, etc. All happening at the same time. I pretty much got stuck in the same building most of the time. I judged the Circle Pince battle and planned to enter the Footwork which were both in the same building. One after the other. Each building/ area was called a cypher. Dope concept. So since I was in the same building most of the day, I didn't get to see everything. But in between I ran around and was trying to see as much as I can get.

After the footwork I was a lil upset. I felt I won during the battle and was shocked when all 3 judges picked Tony Rock. I accepted it and felt I did something wrong. I respect all of the judges that were judging. Freeze(Ghost Crew), Taya( Flow Mo), and Alien Ness(Zulu Kings). But after the battle it got worst. Especially with everybody and there mother telling me they thought I won. Even Tony Rock and his crew thought I won. That irritated me even more. But I got over it eventually. I did save a lot of my new and best footwork rounds to battle Focus in the finals. Once again that's what you get for saving your moves for the next time. Always go hard. So I'm going to train even more harder so that all my go downs are straight fire! I went to the U.K. Champs pre lims where they were running behind schedule because an unexpected 89 crews signed up. But each crew consisted of about 8 to 10 bboys. God damn that's a lot of bboys. But yea it was bananas. Mad cyphers and I watched the final battles. They picked the top 2 crews to go to represent at the Champs. Hooch told me that next year there will be a U.K. Champs in NYC next year at the Rocksteady Anniversary. It was an honor to also hear him tell me that he wished the Dynamic Rockers were able to represent at the Champs this year. We'll definitely train for that one. Believe that! Went to the after party and that was mad funny. Nothing but bboys cyphering to house music. It was bad. Hahaha. There were females but they were being scared off by the testosterone in the air. Just when you thought you had enough breaking there's more. Bboys need to know when to just chill and party. But I went home early to rest for Day 3. The all battles all.

Now this venue was off the hook. It looks smaller in person but it's still hot fire. Just watching row on top of row of people dangling and looking down on you was insane. Quite an experience let me tell ya. I was busy trying to look for Whorah cause I knew he was arriving that day since he was already in Denmark for 2 weeks. He was out there doing workshops, shows, and a battle with bboy Sonic and his crew. Yup we're international baby. That's where it was at. So since a few U.S. Bboys cancelled we were in the need for some reinforcements. Especially somebody with power. Steve was the only power head in our squad. We didn't have anybody who can fly like those damn Koreans or actually anybody else out there. Freaking bboy pocket. Hahaha. I heard he's actually a dwarf and is 26. Lol. So yea that was a life changing experience too. I felt a lil out of my element cause the crowd was definitely not feeling us. I did my thing but I wasn't flying so....... You know. I'm going to get bigger moves and make my stuff more explosive. I felt like our bboys were more free spirited, creative, clean, and better. But it was a different kind of battle. As far as power heads I think steve was the man. The way he was getting in and out of power is his own way which I respect a lot. Everyone on the U.S. Team had their own and different style. To me we smacked everyone. That's how I felt when we was battling. I'll probably have to watch it again but that's how I felt. It was fun regardless of who won or not. Next year I'm definitely going. On the team or not. I recommend everyone to go as well. Believe me you will have a great time. Its a different experience. You must experience it yourself. So once again start to save your money and if it's only one jam you'll go to oversees this year, make sure it's this one.

I.B.E.

Yo what's up, what's up! Yeaaa man I'm off to the Netherlands today! I'm maaad excited and can't wait to be at the infamous I.B.E. this year. Especially knowing that I will be representing the U.S.A. team. Oh man it's an honor. Best believe. I'm going all out and guns blazing kid! I'm doing it for New York! I know cats out there are on another level actually flying and what not. But I will be a good representative and show them how NYC does it better. I appreciate all of you support and help. Even your criticisms. I'm feeling it all. Son you guys don't understand how much love I got for this city. Especially when everybody was behind me when I put it on Teknyc. Before that I thought people was hating on me but after that man I felt the love and support from my own scene, even the tri boro region. Love you guys too. And I won't let you guys down. I will give it my all no matter what! So when I get back I'll download some photos and hit yall up with the run down and all that. And oh yea stay tuned for Massacre 5 coming in November 13th this year. Yup, get ready!
