Brazil Baby!

So my bad I didn't update the rest of the trip sooner. I mean come on, I was in Brazil having a good time. Wouldn't you. Nah no excuses. Especially with my IPhone. I guess I got to get used to doing short updates instead of my usually long ones. I just like to take my time when I write. So back to why I was in Brazil. Yea cause you guys have no idea why I was out there. Haha. I was hooked up with a job to go out there and judge their official national battle. Yea it's called Master Crews. You can check out their website at mastercrews.com.br . It's an event done once a year at the end of the year to see who is the best crew in Brazil. The only way they get invited is with a lil demo video. They pre-select 8 top crews. Then they pick another 20 to battle for the 8 open slots for the second day of battle with the top 8. So bboys from all over the country love and respect this event. This is the first time they got funding from the government so they decided to bring bboys from outside the country. Sooooo they picked 3 bboys from different areas but have history and tradition behind their names. Yours truly, Wary from Dynasty Rockers and also Poe1 from Style Elements. They also had 2 local judges. One member from Zulu and another bboy who was their old school guy. So the event is very traditional based and very old school influenced. So since it was the first time having bboys from outside in this event in Brazil they had workshops for free the first day. Here they had only 20 bboys in each class. Nearly 300 of the bboys participating in the battles signed up to learn info from all of us. But they seperated all the bboys and gave to the first ones signed up. So the bboys out there are hungry and eager to learn. So what I teach and show people is what my pops teaches me. So I showed them a glimpse of how Dynamic Rockers train. Well the traditional way. That's all I know. I don't try to teach them philosophies and dictate what I think breaking is. A lot of bboys do that. They take advantage of these bboys who don't know any better and dictate their beliefs and tell them what to do. This is how trends are either started or encouraged. So in my class I show them how we train and tell them why we do certain things and what it helps with. Brazilian bboys learned from videos and made up their own names for moves. When they ask me questions I am more than happy to answer them and I still don't tell them what to do. I give advice.

So check out this quick lil demo they made of me. Yea they actually made it themselves to promote me as a judge and an instructor in their workshop. It's dope. I hate the last pic of me though. hahaha. I look mad deranged. Well check it out. Supposedly it's famous in Brazil.

So that's a lil bit of why I was in Brazil. What they did was cool this year. To demonstrate why the judges were judging, they had me and Wary do kinda of a 7 to smoke kind of thing with the local bboys from Brazil. It was dope. I give respect to that. They called it Burn Breaking. There was 7 invited bboys which include me and Wary. But also 2 selected bboys from specific crews in the crew battles. The crew had the option to pick their own bboys to represent their squad. Yea son! So I'll get back to you about that in a lil bit. See ya!

This is the photo

First 24 hours in Brazil

Above is a photo of me about to enjoy my first meal in Brazil. Rice
and beans. My favorite! And also a kinda of pork kebab with small
pieces of yuca made a traditonal Brazilian way. Doesn't it sound
yummy. Mmmmm. Well it was real good, yup yup. All to wash down with a
mix of a lil bit of beer and wine. Something new to Brazil but they
love it. So I tried it. I just want to eat the traditional stuff and
also what the locals eat.

So I get picked up by Bgirl Nitro of Street Breakers to be taken to
her house to drop off my bags and head over to the resteraunt where I
get my first delicious meal. But we take a long and fun walk through
the dark and dangerous streets of Sao Paulo. Haha. It wasn't that
dangerous. But before coming out here people were telling me how
dangerous Brazil is. Maybe for a tourist but I don't think a bboy from
NYC would have a problem. Haha. Just playing. Nah Im with locals an
I'm pretty street smart so I think I would be fine. Plus I may look
like Im from Brazil. um..... Maybe not. But yea it was fun checking
out the ruff parts of Sao Paulo out. Kinda reminded me of the South
Bronx in the summer but a lot dirtier. I mean a lot dirtier. Garbage
in the streets because the homeless young and old scavenge through it.

The resteraunt we ate wasn't fancy, just an old traditional place
making food for the soul. And it was delicious! After that we went
back to their crib and chilled out. Then I also found out how even
more awsome my iPhone can be. Man I love this phone. I don't need a
labtop. This is all I need. As long as I have wifi I'm good to go. I
don't have service but I can still go through the net. So I learned
from another fellow iPhone owner that I can download skype and call
home as long as I have wifi service! WHAT! I mean maybe some of you
already know this but I didn't. So I'm paying 13 bucks a month and I
can call back home any number in the US and Canada unlimited. Which
will come in handy because I will be overseas at least twice a month.
Oh And 40 other countries are in the deal. Well back to my adventure.

So in the morning Wary from Dynasty Rockers from Paris arrives and we
get some breakfast. Mmmmmm. The goodness continues. Natural fruit
juices baby! I got my favorite fruit maracuya(passion fruit). Oh yea!
With some rice and beans and of course steak and eggs made the
traditional brazilian way. So they say. Yo why can't the states make
natural juices like this. Come on man. The rest of the day we check
out the city an enjoy the warm weather. Sorry for all my homies living
it up in the winter. I feel for ya. SIKE! Hahahahahahahaha.
Anyways..... Out here in the streets of Sao Paulo they have a crazy
epidemic of hot girls that most likely are guys. Yup. I mean there are
beautiful women out here but... The guys out here that are trannies or
what the locals call Traveco look better than some of the women. So
ask youself this, would you like to get with a hot girl that can have
a chance being a man or be with an ugly girl that you know is a
female. Lucky for me I got a gorgeous woman at home so I don't have to
risk it. Besides that I'm having a great time, even though my homies
continiously remind me about pick pocketers. Now back to my adventure
and Ill get back to you about the next 48 hours. This was my trip from
arriving wensday night into Thursday night. I know I know it's Friday,
so what!

Evolution Day 1

Oh snap......! We done did it again. Me and the crew came through and repped NYC to the fullest. In the cypher and in the competition. Yo the jam was maaaaaad dope! Had a great time. Dynamic Rockers will be repping for the US of A in Denmark for Floor Wars. Copenhagen here we come. The competition was not as hard as we thought it would be. So this time we tried to battle our way without using routines since crews have been complaining that all we do is routines soooooo we made it to the finals without one routine. Yup Dynamic didn't have to do routines. hahahaha. The squad was Whorah, Invertebrate, and me. It was maaaaaaad fun dancing on that stage. It wasn't a high stage but it was kinda low and more intimate. Both rooms had graph everywhere. I mean everywhere. There were vintage boom boxes hanging off the walls, some were graphed up. Also lil canvases of graph head's art work. Man there was definitely a old hip hop feel to this jam. They had everything. I mean everything. It was dope. Cyphers were crazy. Me and Meen 187 were going bananas. Sometimes just rocking the tops. I mean I can't mess with the master of that art, Meen 187 but I was for sure doing my thing. Having a great time. Straight up. I actually saw Mr. Breakernyc.com himself in the place. I was suprised. I did see a lot of people I haven't seen for a minute. Damn. And it was only day one. 5 crew Dynasty was in the building and definitely making a lot of noise. Dynamic baby! Woo Hoo! We don't stop.

The BC One experience

Wow! That experience was CRAZY! You guys don't even understand how much it changed my life. From the first time I saw BC one, I told myself that one day I will be on that stage. And to finally accomplish that man, Wheeew! It was definitely a goal accomplished. Especially to rep for my city. It was the greatest feeling in my life. Believe that! I mean I did get a lot of pressure from that jam. I mean a lot. To the point where I couldn't really focus but that was a great lesson learned. From what I can give to everyone about learning from that jam was straight up "Enjoy yourself"! Have fun. If you ever get on that stage just bug the fuck out and enjoy yourself. I think I took it too serious and missed out on enjoying the moment. It was fun up there believe me but I know I could have done a lot better. A lot better. In my opinion I could have made it to the finals. That's what I thought. I didn't do enough against Menno becuase I was thinking of how to beat everyone else after. Well I definitely want to go back and it will definitely take a lot of hard work which I'm prepared to do. So stay tuned and I'll get back to ya ASAP. Right now I'm at Evolution and it's day 1 so be prepared to get the feedback of the 1 on 1's. iiiiiiiiight.
