ALUMNI BATTLE!

Last Friday was a mini battle exhibition at Colombia University! It was actually hot. I thought the vibe would be different because there was a local dj spinning for the bboys and everyone else. Usually that doesn't turn out good. But I was feeling the music he was playing, MOST of the time. Yea sometimes during the battles the music was a lil off. But for the most part it was hot. The crowd was really receptive and you can tell they enjoyed themselves. There were some really heated battles. Homie JP who threw the event preselected 8 bboys to attend the battle for the chance to win $250.
The battles went like this

Midnight (winner)
vs.
Knuckles

Kid Glyde (winner)
vs.
Frankie

Diego
vs.
Phantom (winner)

Gravity (winner)
vs.
Richie

Then the second round went like

Kid Glyde (winner)
vs.
Midnight

Phantom
vs.
Gravity (winner)

And then the finals

Kidglyde
vs.
Gravity

And the winner after a tie breaker was....................

Gravity!

So yea the event was mad hype. A lot of local hip hop groups doing their thing. Good quality judges such as Break Easy, Abstrak, and another dancer that was in a way affiliated with the hip hop dance groups but has been dancing for 15 years. Sorry I forgot your name.

I was suprised how good I did after coming from a week of just partying with very lil sleep. But I guess my home boy Frankie was right that since I didn't practice I was strong and well rested. But I didn't feel it until I heard the music and was battling. I had fun though. We had other bboys in the place like Qwik Step, Whorah, Bom 5, Aztec, Wiz, Invertebrate, Meen 187, and a few others. Good times. Too bad I missed the after party. I wonder how that went. Let me know JP. After the battle I chilled with my crew and celebrated for a lil bit. We ate some reeeeeeeeeaaal good Colombian food in Astoria and got ready for the next day. Battle of Shaolin and Gravity went to rep NYC in Virginia's the Break Room with bboys Chem, Nemesis, and Samo. Supreme Beings also went out there with their squad to battle and also support Ken Fury in his exhibition battle. Their crew consisted of Flave 1, Frankie, Joe Bananas, and Rockizm. Big ups!!!!

Winter Music Conference!

What up, What up! I know it's been a while. I finally went on a vacation. Well a break from breaking really. Yup. I went to the Winter Music conference in Miami's South Beach. Man that was crazy. I had the best time of my life. Yo I'm going out there every year now. For sure. If you like House music, this is the spot to be at. Imagine this. Aboout 2 to 4 clubs, lounges, hotels on each block throwing a party on every block. I'm talking about the whole city just pumping. By the beach wherever. Pool parties, Roof top parties, whatever. It's just going down non stop. It's never ending. All day and all night. Even the lil resteraunts by the beach have music playing. It's insane. You got to see it for yourself. And the beach is a topless beach. I used to go a few years ago and it was fun but now that I'm older man I had the best time of my life.

I know a lot of you probably don't like House music because of the techno or electric stuff you here but there is so many different types. I hate techno and all that drum and bass stuff. Can't stand it. With House music there is so many types, that I never get sick of it. When you go to a hip hop club you know what their going to play usually. What ever is on the radio will be playing at the hip hop club. Just to name a few, there is Classic, Soulful, Techno, Vocal, etc. I don't know all the names of them cause I'm not very familiar with all the terms. But if you guys ever want to go for a vacation and just listen to non stop music and have a great time under the sun. The WMC in South Beach is the place to go. DJ's from all over the world go there and get down. They even had an all James Brown party that many bboys attended, but I missed. They got a lot of funk parties as well. Pete Rock through a party. And most of these parties are free.

I only went for 3 days and had a blast. Imagine if I stayed for the whole week. Sunday to Sunday. Oh man I would have been delirious. But of course when I came back I had to attend a battle. At colombia University. More on that later on. So don't be scared to go on vacation. I'm sure you all deserve a week off your hard work and especially non stop training. We all deserve to take a break and have a good time. Oh yea one more thing, if you like to drink and want to know a spot that can get you drunk quick. WET WILLY'S is the joint. It's cheap. All you need is one drink and you'll be feeling real good. Order the drink 'Call A Cab'. And you will find out why the drink is called that. Cause your not driving home. haahahahaha. Talk to ya soon. iiiiiiiiight.

Coming up Jams for NYC to travel to!

Yo what up?! I'm just hitting yall up to let you guys know when and where the next jams are going to be where NYC should take a trip to.

At the end of the month on March 28th if you guys are not doing the one on one's in Staten Island, There will be a free crew battle in Virginia. It's a 4 on 4 for $2000. It's Called the Break Room Finals. There will also be a exhibition battle between Ken Fury and Bridge from Supernaturals. So NYC can definitely support this. Should be a hot battle. It's only like 4 and a half hours maybe 5 hour drive. Which isn't bad. Actually you can take the china bus and then the metro. It will probably cost all together round trip 40 t 50 bucks. Plus its a free jam. China bus is 4 hours $35 round trip and then probably $2.50 each way on the train. May be more. If you decide to take the china bus, try to take Eastern. Their the easiest and I like them the best. Find out where they pick up and what time you got to go back. The metro stops running around 3 in the morning on Saturday nights. Eastern has a bus going back to New York at 130am and 330am. I usually just sleep on the bus. Man I take that trip just about every weekend. Any more info contact me at kidglyde@gmail.com iiiiight. We plan on bringing down a team for the battle. But theres also a big one on one in Staten Island. First and Second place cash. $500 and $250 which isn't bad.

The weekend after that is Circles in VA. But that's even more deep. Yup! It's in like a kinda hick part of Virginia. The campus is mad cool but driving there you will see nothing but the pasture. haha. But thats a big ass cash prize. 4 on 4 for $3500. We won that battle last year and plan to again this year. DP One will be spinning so I can't wait for that yo! It's going to be bananas!

April 18th there will be a 8 on 8 battle in DC. Damn Maryland, Virginia and DC are having mad battles going on yo! Damn! Scene is coming up for sure. So it's an 8 on 8 for $1000. Not a lot of money but it's maaaaaaad fun battling with that many cats on a team. Yea cuase you either get a crazy supercrew together for that or you get your whole crew to battle. It should be tight. I know an international crew will be in town that day so if you want to try and get it in then that should be what's up. Theres also Spring Breaking that weekend soooo make a wise decision homies.

Nemesis will be judging a battle on May 2nd in Pittsburgh. It's usually a 2 on 2 for like $500. Whorah and Me won that like 2 years ago. Theres usually not that much competition at this jam. Well I did have to battle Toyz and his brother and then Zulu in the finals. So you do get some good match ups. Usually guys from Ohio tend to go there so you'll see different styles. It's called Master Clash in the University of Pittsburgh I believe.

May 22nd there will be a 3 on 3 in Allentown, PA. I think this is about an hour and a half maybe 2 hours from Philly. Maybe 3 hours from us or maybe more. Mapquest it. It's called the Mayfair Breakdance Challenge. Nemesis will be hosting and judging. DJ Skeme Richards on the One's and Two's. Don't know what the prize is yet but I will get more info to you. iiiiiiight.

Now on June 13th I believe I will be judging a big battle in Minnesota. It's a 2 on 2 for like $2000. Their expecting around 100 crews. Which is kinda crazy but hey you never know. I heard their scene is coming up. There will be a lot of out of town crews there becuase it is near the center of the U.S. so it's easier and cheaper to get to. So definitely come out to this one. I think it's called Unfinished Steps 2. I'm also doing an exhibition against one of their hometown bboys so I could use the love for sure. NYC come through.

I'll let you know more soon enough so You guys can go ahead and buy those plane tickets when you can. NYC baby!!!

NYU jam was a Blast!

AYO! Big shout outs to my home girl Susie! Great jam. It was maaaad fun! Well I know I had fun. Haha. Cyphers weren't the best part of the jam but the competition was definitely hot! We got new DJ's stepping up to the plate. Hailing from the proud crew of Supreme Beings. Rockizm and Frankie got down along side Mid west's own Franco De Leon. Franco is taking it to whole other level. Mixing breaks with all kinds of sounds and other songs you would never think of combining. Fresh DJ with his own style. Homie was getting down with his guitar and some funky machine that he was using during his set. Got to give it up to Rockizm for doing his thing thing. Pushing some rare breaks. Big shout out to Frankie for doing his thing! Cat was nervous when he first went up but did very well. Queens baby! Queens is definitely doing it big.

Yoo the randomize 2 on 2 thing was pretty cool. Testing 2 strangers on working together. Me and my partner Killa Kambo had some routines but didn't pull em out which was a mistake in our part. Oh well. One more lost for the kid. Shit! Happy to see the young and new talent NYC has to offer. They definitely stepped up to the plate. March 13th was about NYC's new generation. And it was a great thing to see. Freaking A Rod, Nemesis's baby! hahahaha. I can't believe he said that on the microphone. He sounded like a girl. Oh man. He's a character. But yea i'm glad to see him back in the scene and killing it out there. Cat got some crazy moves. The man of the night was Mr. Kelvin himself. Oh my god! Doing all those crazy moves of his to the beat! Yo he's incredible! No lie. Mad Fire! Spinarack (If I spelt that right) was killing it too. Man all of Supreme was killing it. They won the college jam. Oh I mean Laguardia, my bad! (Basically Supreme). Cisco made it to the finals of the 2 on 2 too. So yea man Supreme was doing it big on Friday the 13th. Gravity, man no need to say anymore. Nope. My homies Trix and Steven came strong. OREO! Yo homie I think your way over due. It's time for you to start traveling kid. Go represent and do it big homie. Hit me up on email kidglyde@gmail.com . That kid was serious. Oh man. Mike Fresh was maaaaad aggresive. Dope hand glyde homie. Yo it was a great night and it showed a lot of new york city's talent striving to be the best. I'm feeling it. Keep it going yall.

The Maryland team was dope! Man they did bring the fire and brought it hard! NYC had to be on their A game for this squad. But big props to their whole squad! D Moe was nice and smooth with it and executed to the tee. Flek was flowing. I sick was killing it but I've seen homie kill the beat more, especially Steady Rock. Isiah was real crazy with it. Yo him and Kelvin should go at it for like 5 to 6 rounds of insance madness. That would be crazy! Damn shit was fire!

Everyone knows I had an ill time battling. Too bad I didn't get to see many of the College Battles or 2 on 2 battles. Few cats cyphering knew what I was doing. haha. Yea I've been knowing that for some time Character has been fiending to battle me. To the point where he asked to battle me at Who Can Roast the Most! Hmmmmmm. Interesting right. Two NY cats battling each other when we can see each other anytime in the city. And he gets mad and wonders why I don't want to battle him. I'll let you guys think about that one. Anyways I saw him getting down in a cypher so I went in and put myself out there. Cuase for some reason he didn't call me out two days before in Colombia when he saw me. So I kept going after his go downs until he called me out. About 6 rounds later he does a flip and basically walked away talking nonsense which to me is giving up. But he comes back later wanting to battle, So I was like hell nah. Later on I saw homie talking crap to Rapid who was my homie supposedly. Found out from someone who was nearby that they was talking smash. So when I had the chance me and Rapid exchanged words and I smoked his ass. Soooo bad who came to the rescue. Your boy Character fiending for a round 2. Oh boy! Sorry man but I'm about honor. I don't battle somebody thats already battled and is not at their best. I want to challenge myself. Always. But for some reason homie wants to smoke me so fuck it I need practice anyways in the cypher so after breathing a lil bit I went to work. Yo I'm proud of myself. I was able to battle 3 different times and hang. I didn't even repeat. Maybe a few lil moves here and there and maybe some rounds that I basically threw. Hey they can think what ever they want and I'll think what ever I want. I know how I performed and I'll feel the way I do. I know Character probably thinks other wise. I don't care. I heard the peace from the crowd and my crew and it is what it is. But please don't bother me no more. We battle and thats that. Keep it moving. No offense I want to battle cats that I don't see on the regular basis and do different things with different styles. I'm tired of battling the same people and styles, I'm not going to get better that way. It was good to see you with a few new moves and that's what's up! Keep up the hard work and represent. NYC BABY! Till next time...... Kiiiiiiiiiid Glyyyyyyde!!!

Queens is where it's at!!!

That's right! Right now Queens is where it's at! YO the Forest Hills Practice spot is bananas! Yo for the last couple of months this spot has always been jam packed. It's not even a practice anymore. It's always has the jam feel. So everyone goes all out. Good vibe and good music. Nobody beefing. If theres a battle it's on some sparring shit! Like my homie Flave One said. Matter of fact last weekend me and my crew battled Supreme Beings for like 20 minutes.

It was me, Gravity, and Menace vs. Jiggz, Joe Bananas, and Flave One. We was going at it. I felt like my side was a lil on and off especially me but I got to check the footage again. I wasn't happy with my performance. I'm hard on myself. It was close but I feel they edged us out. Gravity was on point like always but slowed down at the end. But every one slowed down at the end. Menace killed it but at the end didn't look good. Jiggz was on fire in the beginning. Killing it straight raw. He got a lil tired at the end. Joe was doing the damn thing! Flave was killing it but was slowing down at the end. I got to see the footage again. I felt like at the end we had to catch up but didn't cuase it was too late. Everybody was tired. So I got to check the footage again. Right now I feel like we lost. But the real reason I'm writing this post is about today!

Yea today at practice it was insane. The Supreme Beings brought in their dj equipment today and it was a rap. Yup! We had DJ's Rockism and Mute on the wheels of steel. haha. Yea they was doing there thing. Or maybe practicing. haha. Nah son the quality of the music was sooooo much better and this time it felt like a real jam. Son, I was on fire. I was going crazy especially cause I got a lot of things coming up and I don't want to let NYC down. uh uh. Got to be on point all the time. Can't lose to any chumps out there. DYNAMIC ROCKERS BABY! So yea after today the rest of the boroughs got a lot to get up on. Man I went to a brooklyn spot last wensday and I was sooooooo bored. lol. sorry I wasn't feeling the vibe. Ain't going to blow up the spot but some of ya should know. We got dj's killing it homie. And not to mention all the young up and coming bboys in Forest Hills too. Man theres sooooo many of them. It's a good thing to see that I know this dance will go on after me. But I will be here for a loooooooong time. BELIEVE THAT!!!!
